Small in size, yet heavy enough so that it doesn't move around on its own. I recently replaced my old desktop with a laptop but I still wanted to be able to work at my desk. I would recommend it. I am very happy with it. My mouse, keyboard and external hard drive would have used up all of my available USB ports on my new laptop, so I chose to use this USB hub to connect all my USB equipment to and only use 1 USB port on my laptop. It has worked great.
Oh yeah, the hub works great too. Guess they found a cheap way to solve all the complaints from people unable to mount it vertically. Just received the CTG 7-port hub and it came with a strip of foam (sticky on one side) to put between the hub and the base. It doesn't slide around at all, nice tight fit.
In one of the slots I have my USB mouse - as with previous hubs, and even with the USB slots on my motherboard (on the back of my CPU case), I occasionally start up my PC and find that the mouse is dead and I need to reset the connection by unplugging it and plugging it back into the hub. Well, I like this product. For under $20, this is a deal. Maybe it's the mouse. It does what it's supposed to do. Nice to have 7 slots.
One of the sweeter features about this model is that it can easily be removed from the mounting base and packed for travel. Like most systems, the Cables To Go Hub is outfitted with a glowing blue power status light. Fitted with 7 ports, this aluminum slim line model is nicely weighted and can be mounted or free stand. It powers up via USB port or the included supply plug. As usual Amazon offers this item at a great price. Transfers are consistent at high speed without issue. It pairs well with both Windows Vista & XP2 platforms.
But let's face it, if a USB hub doesn't work, it doesn't matter what it looks like. I think I'll just find another more reliable brand. I like the construction of the device--it looks and feels nice. I really wanted this device to work well. It needs to work. I thought it might have been because I didn't have the power cord attached and it wasn't getting enough power from the USB, but plugging in the power adapter didn't help. It's been going on since I got the product and it's very annoying to constantly hear the alert on Windows when the devices connect and reconnect -- literally hundreds of time per hour. I had problems with it continually disconnecting and reconnecting. I didn't even realize there was a time limit for returns, luckily I signed on today and saw I had on more day to return it.I thought about exchanging it, but then I read the other reviews on here, and I don't want to go through the hassle again.
